The brief
Carricks Brook and its sister home Oakdown House support a small number of residents with autism and complex needs. Families arriving at the site are usually at a difficult point. They want to see the place, understand how it is run and know who they would be dealing with, without wading through policy language.
The second audience is staff. Specialist residential care lives or dies on recruitment, and the site needed to carry vacancies, training pathways and benefits with the same care as the resident-facing pages. Matt Ollive designed the site. Rockhopper Digital built it.
The approach
The structure splits cleanly. Living at Carricks Brook covers activities, resident stories and news. Working at Carricks Brook covers vacancies, staff development and benefits. Each has its own way in from the homepage, so neither audience has to read past content written for the other.
We built the design as a custom WordPress theme rather than a page builder, so the typography and spacing hold exactly as drawn. Photography is given room, because in this sector the rooms and the grounds do more persuading than the copy does. Everything is editable by the team without disturbing the layout.
The outcome
The homes now have one site that handles referrals and recruitment side by side, without either getting in the way of the other.
