In short
Rockhopper Digital redesigns and rebuilds existing UK business websites without losing search rankings. Every URL is mapped, pages that earn traffic are kept, and redirects go live with the new site. Typical projects take six to ten weeks and are quoted as a fixed price.
Overview
Most redesigns go wrong the same way. The new site looks better, and a month later the enquiries have dried up, because URLs changed without redirects and the pages that were quietly earning traffic were cut or rewritten past recognition.
We plan the move before anything is designed: what ranks now, what brings enquiries, and what each existing page becomes. You deal with Martin Phillips from the first call to launch, and you get a fixed price before any work starts.
Redesigns and rebuilds we have delivered
Four sites we rebuilt rather than started from scratch. Open them and judge for yourself.
Restructured
SustainPlan
Twelve assessment services rebuilt as pages of their own, each with its own quote request, replacing a single list that left architects guessing which report they needed.

Consolidated
The Melanoma Fund
Campaign microsites brought back under one framework, so the charity pages support each other in search instead of competing for the same terms.

The Gallery
A Tunbridge Wells salon trading since 1995, rebuilt from the designer artwork as a custom theme, with the price list generated from stylist tiers.

What actually loses traffic in a redesign
In our experience it is rarely the design. It is one of these five:
- URLs change and nothing redirects the old ones
- Pages that were earning traffic are dropped because nobody checked which they were
- Copy is cut to suit the new layout, and the detail that ranked goes with it
- The new site is heavier and slower than the old one, particularly on a phone
- Forms, tracking and booking links are not tested before launch
How we protect what you already have
- We crawl the current site and read its Search Console data before design starts
- Every URL is mapped to its replacement, including the ones nobody remembers
- Pages that earn traffic keep their content and their purpose, even when the wording changes
- Redirects go live with the site, not the week after
- We watch Search Console through the first weeks, so anything odd shows up in days rather than months
What you get
- A design built around the enquiry you want, not around a template
- A structure planned on what your customers search for
- Fast pages: this site scores 98–99 on mobile in Google’s Lighthouse test, and client sites are built to the same standard
- Enquiry forms recorded server-side and tracked as conversions in GA4
- Content you can edit yourself, with a handover session
- Technical SEO built in: clean URLs, structured data, correct heading order
When a redesign is the wrong answer
Sometimes the site is sound and the problem is three pages, a slow server or a Google Business Profile nobody has touched. Rebuilding then costs money for nothing.
We audit before recommending, and we will say when targeted fixes would do. If you want the detail first, read redesign without losing rankings, or look at SEO and local search if being found is the real problem.
Questions
Your questions.
Answered.
If yours is not here, ask. A conversation costs nothing.
Discuss your projectWill a redesign damage my Google rankings?
Not if it is planned properly. Rankings are lost when URLs change without redirects and when content that was earning traffic is dropped in the rebuild. We audit the current site first, keep what earns its place and put the full redirect map live at launch.
How long does a redesign take?
Six to ten weeks for most business sites. The variable is almost always content: projects with the text and photographs ready move quickly, projects waiting on them do not.
What does a redesign cost?
A straightforward business site with a handful of service pages starts in the low thousands. E-commerce, bookings or a large page count add to that. You get a fixed price in writing after a first conversation.
Can you redesign without changing platform?
Yes. Most redesigns stay on WordPress, in Divi, Elementor or a custom theme. If moving platform is the right call, that is a separate conversation and it is covered on our AI website design and builds page.
What do you need from me to start?
Access to the current site and its analytics, whatever content and photography you have, and one person who can make decisions. We handle the rest, including the Search Console work.
